Episode Highlights
Who is Jennie Ogilvie
Jennie is known as Canada’s Unconventional Medium.
She has always been able to connect with spirit since she was young.
Jennie’s an energy reader and an intuitive counselor.
She believes that you can learn so much when you find a great perspective through difficult times.
How she helps
She helps people understand what it’s like to work with energy, receive it, give it, and explore it.
She teaches different techniques to connect with loved ones; that energy is fluid.
She helps you understand that through soul mapping, your boundaries, and the dialogue around that, ultimately, you are responsible for leading a great life before you die.
Dialogue to self
We have a responsibility in our life to teach people how to treat us.
Have healthy boundaries, a non-negotiable place of who you are and what you stand for.
If you’re ever unsure of how to proceed in a situation, ask yourself two questions: Does this serve me, and does it bring me joy?
Noone can create chaos in your life unless you let them.
Shut up and listen
We need to shut up and listen to what life tells us; pay attention.
When you get a gut instinct, an overwhelming feeling that’s coming into your awareness, you can listen, or you can ignore it.
It’s about choice and free will.
Inner child
When we’re young, there’s a trauma or situation we didn’t handle.
We typically put that little girl in a room and lock her in as a form of protection.
That little girl that’s locked up is the one who holds all your dreams, your aspirations, your desires, your purpose, your love, your faith – all the things we live by.
We lose contact with our inner child and, as a result, wonder why there’s no joy or happiness in our life.
Children teach us how simple life can be.
Closet of masks
Jenny didn’t realize the number of people out there who have a closet of masks.
People change who they are in different situations- personal and work life.
She says you should never change who you are, no matter the setting.
Wearing different masks is exhausting, and you’re not being true to who you are.
My masks
Jenny confirms that I have at least three masks.
For example, I feel the need to act more professionally in my work setting.
By changing the dialogue and loving myself enough, I’ve become more intentional about staying true to who I am.
And I love the feeling of not giving a rat’s ass about what people think.
Elevating your life
Some people come to Jennie to connect with loved ones, and others come to have tough conversations, like a form of accountability almost.
Jennie used to do many more readings with messages from loved ones; however, she’s noticed a shift towards soul guidance.
Her goal is to give you guidance on how you can elevate your life.
Jennie defines what spirituality is to her
It’s the actual spirit inside of her, the spirit of her actual self, that flame, that bright light.
The ability to dim or brighten it when she can.
And acknowledging the center of her greatness.
She says there is power in touching our greatness.
Your head and your mind
Your head is where 1+1=2. When you’re tired, you sleep; when you’re hungry, you eat.
Your mind is where you live when you want to have an experience.
You cannot feel an overwhelming sense of joy if you’re not present in the emotion you’re feeling.
Jennie says we get stuck in our heads far too often.
Death and grief
Death is the number one thing in your life that makes you show up in that very second.
It doesn’t make us lose ourselves in someone else’s death, it makes us show up for our own life.
Energy survives the physical body, requiring one to show up differently.
Death and grief wake us up to our spirituality.
Meditation versus attunement
Meditation is more of a setting, and you’re setting your awareness for the day, allowing your energy to flow freely and being present.
Attunement is when you’re attuning to the spirit and spirit world, using more than the usual 5% of your brain.
Spirituality versus religion
Spirituality isn’t connected to religion; it’s very different.
Religion is followed.
Spirituality is created.
Her workshops
Jennie likes to do her workshops in small towns to support local businesses.
She will be taking you on a journey where she teaches you what it feels like to receive energy and give energy.
You get to meet your loved ones.
And you get to do some soul mapping.
When you walk out of the workshop, you will walk out a different and lighter person.
What Jennie is grateful for
She is grateful for a fantastic week.
For booking some really great events coming up.
For continuing to see an open space in front of her, that isn’t narrowing.
And grateful that at 48, she gets to do what she loves.
3 Powerful Quotes from this Episode
40:24 – “I said, it’s the actual spirit of me, it’s, it’s the spirit of my actual self, that flame that bright light. And if I want to dim it, I can, if I want to blow it up, I can. And just acknowledging that that is the center of my greatness. And when I feel, you know, oftentimes, when you feel upset about something, or you get shut down, you feel like you’re outside of your body. Like that is how much power we have to disassociate ourselves that we can feel inside of her body. If we turn that around, can you imagine how much power we have with touching our greatness, or getting closer to it? Like, that’s, that’s profound.”
49:03 – “Death is the number one thing in your life that makes you show up in that very second, that you have to look at it. You can’t walk around it. You can’t you can put it on this proverbial bookshelf later on, because you don’t want to do that, but it makes you show up. And isn’t that a beautiful piece? That’s such a beautiful piece that death does. It doesn’t make us lose ourselves in someone else’s death makes us show up for our life.”
51:28 – “Know that energy, energy survives the physical body, it just requires us to show up just differently in order to continue to have that. So we really haven’t lost anything, just the vehicle that the person was in. Much like, you know, when you have an old car, the car goes to the junkyard. The driver doesn’t.”
