On today’s episode, I am talking with Chris and Brittany from an organization called Do Good. Be Kind. I can’t wait for you to hear more about this amazing organization and the message that they are bringing to our world. If any message needs to be in the world it’s…..
Leah Kingston, principal of Turner Valley School had this to say about the assembly that was held at her school in February 2020:
“DO GOOD. BE KIND” – Four words; so simple but yet so powerful.
When Do Good. Be Kind was presented at Turner Valley School in February 2020, we knew that the message of kindness would resonate with staff and students. From being kind to yourself, being kind to others, to being kind to the world around you, our school used these words to teach our students what we feel is truly important in a school culture. It is my opinion that the most valuable lessons are those that may be taught outside of the classroom or the curriculum. The message of kindness touches all students, all ages, and all races, and transcends many socioeconomic barriers that we see in schools today.
Little did we know that two short months after our assembly, the world would be dealing with a Global Pandemic! Throughout the days of teaching students from home, and supporting families with many challenges due to COVID-19, the message of Do Good. Be Kind could not be understated. We simply reminded our staff to be accountable and do good, and the rest will take care of itself.
As school has resumed with students back in the building, we are excited to welcome our little ones back with all of the love and care in the world. We may not know what lies ahead, but what we can promise our families is that we will make our school a safe and welcoming place filled with messages of doing good, and being kind. We endeavor to ‘cultivate kindness and watch it grow!’
If there ever was a time for kindness in our world, now is the time!
I will forever be grateful to Leah and all the staff and kids at Turner Valley School for making this assembly as special as it was.
Until next time, be kind and stay well.
