It’s been almost two months since I made a post and finished my podcast….51 days to be exact.
51 days of being completely ok not doing my podcast and I didn’t know if that would be the case. Are there days I miss it? To be honest, no. Not yet anyway.
I loved everything about doing my podcast, especially finding and using my voice. Using it for good and to help others, and myself. But now I feel like I’m supposed to do other things with my voice.
And you know what – it’s ok to CHANGE!! It really is. Over the past couple months I have been beating myself up. In what way?
I have been mad at myself for saying (out loud) all of the plans I was wanting to do, or directions I was taking this or that, and then it didn’t pan out. Or….I didn’t like it.
My soul was telling me “You were meant to do that so you could learn the lesson but now it’s time to move on”.
You see, we do have a LOT of lessons to learn while we are here in this lifetime. When something doesn’t feel right anymore, that’s a big sign it’s time to move on so you can learn what’s next in your plan.
If I change my mind about what I want to do, instead of beating myself up….I’m going to remember….it was a lesson I was meant to move through and find the value in it.
Now back to my VOICE! You know what’s cool about trying new things? Like starting a podcast and doing that for 75 episodes? I was told I have a great voice and my sister in law made a suggestion I should try doing voice over work. That was in July 2020.
Almost 2 years later I listened to that suggestion and took a leap of faith. I recorded a few auditions and submitted them for audiobook deals. And I GOT ONE!! I have also been sent many rejection letters because I am not for everyone and that is ok too :).
For those who are interested in learning more about this as a side hustle, or a career, check out ACX which has tons of information or send me an email or dm and I’d love to chat about it with you!
I am done recording my first audiobook and wow did I ever learn a lot doing that. Like…that it’s definitely smart to only record one chapter at a time and get them audio approved before moving on. I didn’t do that the first attempt, so guess who had to do the whole book twice…..yep, that would be me.
And now…..I’m doing voice over training with an amazing company called Such A Voice. My coach is based out of Austin, Texas and we meet every couple weeks to go over scripts and try different techniques…..and I FREAKING LOVE IT!!
So today, I’m here to remind you that if something doesn’t feel “right” anymore, it’s ok to admit it and move on. Take the chance and do what feels right for you and no one else.
If I don’t like voice over in a month or two, guess what, that’s OK too!
Have a beautiful day friends 🙂
